MILONGA

“With a superb, five-strong band stage-right playing a fusion of tango staples such as Piazzolla’s Libertango, along with elegant and inventive variations by Cherkaoui’s regular composer Szymon Brzóska, partners dance back-to-back, one man with two women, five couples as one, three men together".

- Mark Monahan , The Telegraph

Milonga, the stunning mix of tango and contemporary dance by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, brought me to Buenos Aires where I had a fantastic opportunity to work closely with great tango musicians led by the composer and pianist Fernando Marzan, whose original tango music plays the first violin in this piece. For this performance, I have created an intimate score for violin, piano, double bass, with a hint of acoustic guitar and bandoneon.
